How common are liver flukes?

I was just reading an article online about liver flukes and it sounds quite scary. How common is this kind of infection in India, and how do people usually get them?

Honestly, I had to search this up at 3 AM because I couldn't sleep. It sounds like some alien parasite! It turns out they aren't very common in urban areas, but can happen if you eat raw freshwater fish. Just cook your fish properly and sleep peacefully.

In our areas, these parasitic infections are not very common but can occur due to contaminated water or raw watercress. The simple, practical solution is to always drink boiled water and cook your vegetables and fish thoroughly. Good hygiene is all you need.

Liver fluke infections are quite rare in India, mostly confined to specific rural regions where raw fish is consumed. Along with keeping your BP and cholesterol in check, general food safety is important. If you suspect an infection, a simple stool test can diagnose it.

Bro, liver flukes are super rare unless you are traveling to some specific lakeside areas and eating raw fish. I had a bad stomach infection last year, and the doctor told me it is usually just normal food poisoning, not some crazy parasite. Just eat cooked food.

Don't get paranoid by reading about liver parasites online. They are extremely uncommon in India. If you actually have persistent abdominal pain or jaundice, go get an ultrasound and a proper blood test done by a real doctor instead of self-diagnosing.
