How can you tell if your kidney is bad?

My legs and feet have started swelling a little, and I'm feeling constantly fatigued. My father had kidney problems, so I'm quite anxious to know what signs indicate if kidneys are not functioning properly.

Bro, my uncle had kidney issues and he started getting super puffy eyes and swollen ankles in the morning. He also felt tired all the time, even though he wasn't doing much. If you see your legs swelling up like crazy, don't ignore it.

Actually, kidney issues can be very sneaky because you don't feel much pain in the beginning. But things like changes in how often you urinate or seeing frothy bubbles in the toilet are big clues, yaar. If you feel constantly fatigued and have itchy skin, you should get a kidney function test done.

I visited a nephrologist at Max Hospital when my father had swelling in his feet. The doctor clearly explained that only blood tests like creatinine and eGFR, along with a urine routine test, can tell if the kidneys are functioning properly. Don't try to guess based on symptoms; consult a specialist and get these tests done.

Early kidney disease often has no symptoms at all, which is why it is called a silent condition. If you have risk factors like diabetes or high blood pressure, regular screening is highly recommended. Seeking a qualified doctor's advice and getting a basic blood chemistry panel is the most responsible step to take.

I was just reading up on this because my dad has high blood pressure, which is a major cause of kidney damage. Apparently, things like metallic taste in your mouth, loss of appetite, and muscle cramps can also indicate kidney issues. It is quite fascinating how many different systems it affects, so a routine checkup is definitely a good habit.

I have been noticing some mild swelling on my feet after sitting at my desk all day, and my lower back also hurts sometimes. I am really scared if this means my kidneys are failing. Did anyone else experience foot swelling as their first sign, or am I just overthinking?
