How can stiff and tight muscles result in back pain?

For the past few months, I've been having constant back pain, and it often feels like my muscles are very tight. I'm trying to understand if there's a direct connection between stiff muscles and developing chronic back pain. Is that how it works?

Our bodies often hold onto mental stress in the form of physical tightness in the back and shoulders. Try to sit quietly for a few minutes daily, breathe deeply, and let go of the tension you are carrying. Keeping a positive mind and doing gentle stretches will slowly help your body find its natural balance again.

When your muscles remain stiff due to sitting in one place for too long, they pull on your spine and cause pain. I always find that gently massaging the area with warm sesame oil followed by a warm water compress helps relax the stiffness. But if the pain goes down your legs, please don't rely on home remedies and see a doctor.

Stiff muscles put uneven pressure on your lower back joints, which eventually leads to persistent pain. Along with regular movement, make sure you are drinking enough water and eating magnesium-rich foods like almonds and green leafy vegetables to prevent muscle spasms. If the stiffness doesn't improve, please check with a medical expert.

I had severe lower back stiffness last year and went to a specialist at Apollo Hospital. The doctor clearly explained how tight hamstrings and lower back muscles alter your posture and strain the spine. I highly recommend consulting an orthopedic doctor or a qualified physical therapist to get a targeted exercise plan.

Tight muscles, especially in the hips and core, fail to support the spine properly, forcing other muscles to overcompensate and ache. While ergonomic chairs and regular stretch breaks are helpful, persistent back pain shouldn't be ignored. It is always best to consult a physiotherapist or doctor to rule out any disc issues.

I used to suffer from terrible backaches during my working days because of continuous sitting. Once I started walking for 30 minutes daily and stopped keeping my body so stiff, the pain vanished on its own. Don't worry too much, just keep moving and don't let your body become stiff like a log.
