How can schools help with mental health?

My son has been struggling a bit with stress lately, especially with exams and all. I'm wondering what practical things schools can actually do to support students' mental well-being? It feels like there's a lot of pressure, and not much help available for the kids.

Honestly, schools need to have a proper counselor on campus who is actually accessible to kids without any judgment. My therapist friend always says that early intervention during school years can prevent major anxiety issues later in life. They should also reduce the extreme academic pressure and teach basic emotional regulation classes.

This is so important, schools really neglect mental wellness. They need to start talking about stress openly.

Getting kids to do some deep breathing or basic yoga in the morning assembly can really help calm their busy minds. Even just playing in green open spaces daily works wonders for school stress. But if a child is showing severe signs of depression or withdrawing completely, the school must immediately guide the parents to a proper child psychologist.

My son went through a terrible phase of school anxiety last year, and what really worked was the school setting up a peer support group. Having a dedicated 'no-exam talk' hour once a week where kids can just speak their minds without teachers grading them makes a huge difference. Small, practical steps work much better than big lectures.

Schools should ideally partner with top-tier hospitals to conduct regular mental health screenings for students. When we noticed our daughter struggling, we took her straight to Max Hospital and got a clear guidance plan. It is best to consult an experienced clinical psychologist to understand what kind of school environment suits a struggling child.
