How can i get a free diabetes meter?

My mother was recently diagnosed with diabetes, and we're trying to monitor her sugar levels at home, but the cost of the testing strips and the meter is quite high for us. Are there any schemes or places where we can get a diabetes meter for free or at a subsidized rate?

Sometimes when you buy a large pack of test strips (like 50 or 100 strips), the companies give the glucometer machine absolutely free with it. You should check at your regular local pharmacy or ask your doctor if they have any promotional starter kits from pharmaceutical brands.

I remember getting my first monitoring device free during a local community health and yoga camp. Many charitable trusts and yoga centers organize these camps where they distribute basic health kits to people who need them.

It can be expensive to keep buying these kits. Check with government hospital pharmacies, they often have subsidy schemes.

Hey, don't stress too much about the cost! Just look up online pharmacy apps; they often run offers where they give a free basic meter if you sign up for their chronic care plans or order regular medicines.

Let me tell you, the machine is not the expensive part, it's the test strips that cost a lot in the long run. Even if you get a free meter from a camp or brand promo, make sure the replacement strips for that specific model are affordable and easily available in your town.
