How can family affect your mental health?

Been feeling very stressed and anxious lately, and a lot of it seems to come from home. My parents have very high expectations, and it's getting difficult to cope. Does anyone else feel like their family dynamics really impact their peace of mind?

Honestly, family can affect you so deeply because you care about their opinions the most. I spent years trying to meet my parents' expectations and it completely burned me out. If you are feeling suffocated, please know your feelings are 100% valid and you are not alone in this.

We cannot always change how our family behaves, but we can change how we respond. When my family environment gets chaotic, I sit quietly for 15 minutes and just practice deep breathing or Anulom Vilom. It really helps me create a mental boundary so their stress doesn't enter my system.

Constant family stress can actually take a physical toll on you. My blood pressure shot up crazy high last year just from dealing with endless household arguments. Please keep an eye on your physical health too, get your routine checkups done, and don't let the domestic drama ruin your body.

Listen to me, it's okay to take a step back from family gatherings if they are hurting your peace. You don't have to carry the weight of everyone's moods on your own shoulders. Take a deep breath, go out for a bit, and protect your own energy first, okay?

It really can drain you completely. Sometimes the closest people are the ones who disturb our peace of mind the most.

Please don't ignore this if it's making you feel hopeless or deeply anxious. I ignored my family stress for so long that I ended up having severe panic attacks that landed me in the clinic. If the emotional weight is too heavy, please speak to a professional doctor or therapist before it affects your health.

Arre, family is like a daily soap opera, no? One day they are your biggest support, next day they are the sole reason you need a headache pill. I just go for a quiet walk outside whenever the constant bickering starts getting to my head.
