How big is 4cm kidney stone?

Just got my report back and it shows a 4 cm kidney stone. My family is quite shocked by the size. I'm trying to get a sense of just how big 4 cm really is for a stone like this.

At 4 cm, that stone is like a big walnut or a lime. You cannot dissolve this with home remedies or local syrups, so don't waste your hard-earned money on those. Go to a government or trust hospital, get an ultrasound, and plan a proper clinical removal.

My uncle had a 4 cm stone and it was literally the size of a golf ball or a medium-sized lemon. It was way too large to pass through urine and was causing severe back pain. He had to get a proper hospital surgery to get it removed.

A 4 cm stone is 40 mm, which is classified as a very large staghorn or giant kidney stone. I use health trackers to log my water intake, but for a stone of this scale, surgical intervention is the only viable path. Consult a urologist immediately to prevent kidney damage.

I am quite new to hearing about kidney issues, but is 4 cm considered extremely dangerous? My cousin was diagnosed with a large stone and I am really worried about her. Does a stone this big always require a major surgery?

A 4 cm stone is basically a small brick inside your kidney, like a proper table tennis ball! At this rate, drinking water will only make you run to the toilet with no result. Go see a urologist and get that rock blasted out as soon as you can.

A 4 cm stone is almost the size of a small plum, which sounds incredibly scary to me. I have a 5 mm stone and I am already in so much pain, so I can't even imagine how a 4 cm one feels. How do people manage the pain while waiting for surgery?

That is indeed a very large stone, roughly the size of a small lemon. Please don't be afraid, modern medical procedures are very safe and will help you get rid of the pain quickly.
