How bad is itching with pancreatic cancer?

My neighbour was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and she mentioned she's suffering from terrible itching. It sounds like such an unusual symptom for cancer. Is this itching truly very severe for patients with this condition?

Itching caused by jaundice in pancreatic issues can be very deep and severe, and normal lotions usually don't help much. I tried oatmeal baths for temporary comfort, but it is actually due to bile buildup in the blood. Please make sure the patient's doctor is aware, as they can prescribe specific medicines to help.

This kind of itching is usually systemic due to bile duct obstruction, not just a skin issue. While keeping the skin hydrated is good, no amount of fitness routine or basic diet changes will solve it. It is very important to consult their oncologist to manage this symptom.

It can be an incredibly distressing and restless feeling for the patient. Gentle deep breathing can sometimes help calm the nervous system when the itching is severe, but please remember this requires proper medical treatment from their doctor.

It can be very frustrating, haan na. The skin gets so dry and itchy because of the liver and bile issues. Please don't try self-medicating at home, only their treating doctor can give the right tablets to reduce this.

My dear friend went through this, and the itching was indeed very troublesome and kept him awake. But don't lose heart, doctors have very good supportive care medicines and procedures to relieve this pressure. Speak to your medical team openly.

I am still learning about this symptom because a relative was recently diagnosed. Does the itching happen all over the body or only in specific areas? I hope their medical team can help find some relief soon.

I am so sorry to hear about this struggle. Itching can indeed be very intense and uncomfortable in this condition. Please consult their doctor as they can offer options to make them feel more comfortable.
