How are the majority of kidney stones treated?

My brother has been having severe pain, and it turns out he has kidney stones. We're exploring different options, so I'm curious to know how most kidney stones are generally treated. Are surgeries very common, or are there other ways?

Haan, mostly kidney stones are treated just by drinking lots and lots of water, samjhe na? If the stone is small, like 4-5mm, the doctor will give some medicines to flush it out naturally. Bass, thoda hydration ka dhyan rakho aur salt kam kardo.

I had a 6mm stone recently, and my doctor prescribed some alkalizing syrup and pain relievers. I just drank about 3-4 liters of water daily, and it passed on its own in two weeks. Unless it's a huge stone blocking the path, you don't need any surgery.

Look, most stones can be easily flushed out with simple hydration and medication to ease the pain. There is no need to panic and think of surgery right away. Just go get an ultrasound, follow your doctor's prescription, and stop neglecting your water intake.

The majority of small kidney stones, typically under 5mm, are treated conservatively with increased fluid intake and alpha-blockers to relax the ureter. If the stone is larger or causing obstruction, procedures like Lithotripsy (ESWL) or laser treatment are used. It is always best to consult a urologist for an ultrasound and proper guidance.

My father went through this last summer and honestly, drinking barley water and keeping hydrated did the trick. The doctor gave some tablets to help expand the path so the stone could slip out easily. Just stay calm, drink your fluids, and consult your family doctor.

Don't worry too much, most kidney stones pass naturally with just plenty of water and some basic medicine to ease the spasm. Unless the stone is very large or causing severe infections, doctors rarely go for surgery. Just keep drinking water and take rest.

According to most medical guidelines on my health tracker app, conservative management is the first line of treatment. This involves tracking your daily water intake (aim for 3L) and using prescribed pain meds. For stubborn stones, doctors use non-invasive shockwave therapy to break them into dust.
