Infants basically sleep like they have just finished a massive plate of heavy biryani—totally knocked out, then waking up hungry every few hours! They need to be put on their backs on a firm, flat mattress with absolutely no pillows. It keeps them safe and happy till their next milk meal.
My nephew just turned three months old, and my sister always puts him to sleep on his back. No toys, no soft blankets in the crib because the doctor said it's dangerous. They wake up a lot, but that is totally normal for babies.
Babies love sleeping on their back on a nice, firm mattress! Make sure there are no soft pillows or cute stuffed toys around them in the crib to keep it super safe. A quiet, dim room helps them snooze peacefully!
For the prevention of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), it is absolutely critical that infants sleep only on their backs on a flat, firm mattress. Never use soft bedding, quilts, or pillows in their sleeping area. If your baby has persistent trouble sleeping or displays noisy breathing, please consult your pediatrician immediately.
Just like we need recovery time after a heavy workout, babies need a lot of sleep on a clean, flat surface to grow properly. Keep the room at a comfortable temperature and avoid heavy swaddling. Good sleep hygiene starts from day one itself!
In our days, we used to gently swing them in a soft cotton saree hammock, which helped them sleep peacefully. But remember, they must always sleep on their back to breathe easily and stay safe. Don't worry if they sleep during the day and stay awake at night, their schedule will settle down slowly.
I completely understand how stressful it is to watch over a sleeping baby and worry if they are breathing fine, I used to stay awake checking constantly. Just remember that placing them flat on their back on a firm mattress is the safest way. You are doing a great job, try to take a deep breath.

I was reading about baby sleep cycles for my cousin's new baby, and apparently, they need like 14 to 17 hours of sleep in a day. But they have tiny stomachs, so they wake up constantly for feeding. It must be so exhausting for the parents!
Infants should sleep on their backs on a clean, firm bed without any loose bedding. Keeping a proper routine is key, just like managing our daily diet and health schedules. If you notice any unusual breathing patterns during their sleep, please consult their pediatrician immediately.
My bhabhi is always stressed about the baby's sleep, but honestly, infants just sleep whenever they want. The pediatric doc said always lay them flat on their back, never on their stomach, to prevent any choking risk. It looks simple but requires so much patience!
