How addiction affects mental health?

My friend has been struggling with substance abuse for a while now, and lately, he seems very depressed and anxious. I'm worried about him and trying to understand how this addiction is impacting his mental state. Is there a strong link between the two?

Honestly, it messes with your brain chemicals like a bad Bollywood movie script. One day you feel like king of the world, next day your brain goes on strike. It's best to stop fighting it alone and get some professional help before your mind completely unfriends you.

Addiction basically drains both your mental peace and your bank account. If you go to a psychiatrist, the consultation fees and therapy sessions can add up quickly, so look for govt hospitals or affordable counselors first. Getting a basic health checkup done early also helps plan the budget before things get expensive.

Any kind of addiction disturbs the natural prana flow in our body, leading to deep restlessness and anger. Along with medical treatment, practicing simple Anulom Vilom for 10 minutes daily really helped calm my mind during stressful times. It brings back that lost balance very gently.

Let's be real, addiction and mental health issues go hand in hand like a package deal. It completely trashes your sleep cycle and focus, making you useless at work. Stop wasting time reading online, just book an appointment with a good therapist and get sorted.

I was reading some articles on this yesterday because a friend of mine is going through a tough phase. It's crazy how substance use alters our dopamine pathways and actually triggers clinical depression over time. Has anyone here tried support groups or did you guys go straight to a clinic?

I was stuck in that loop for two years and my anxiety was through the roof, constantly overthinking everything. Once I finally accepted it and met a specialist, the mental fog slowly started clearing up. Trust me, your brain actually heals, you just have to give it that chance.
