How accurate is stool test for colon cancer?

My father recently had some digestive issues, and the doctor suggested a stool test to check for any serious problems, including colon cancer. I'm trying to understand more about this test. How accurate is a stool test specifically for detecting colon cancer?

Please do not ignore this. Stool tests like FIT or gFOBT are good screening tools, but they are not 100% accurate for detecting everything. I once ignored minor gut changes and really regretted waiting. If you have any ongoing symptoms or bleeding, get a proper colonoscopy done immediately.

Humare idhar ke sarkari hospital ke doctor sahab ne bataya tha ki tatti ki jaanch se pet ki andaruni bimaari ka pata chal jata hai. Yeh kafi sasta aur achha test hai. Aap bina dare test karwa lijiye, sab thik hoga.

I know how terrifying it is to even think about colon cancer and do these tests, the anxiety can be absolutely paralyzing. Stool tests are highly accurate at finding hidden blood, but they are just a first step. Try to stay calm, taking the test is a brave and right decision.

Haan, stool test kafi hadd tak sahi screening de deta hai, par yeh final test nahi hota na. Agar isme kuch thoda bohot bhi aata hai, toh doctor colonoscopy likhte hain confirmation ke liye. Toh tension mat lo, pehle normal test karwa lo.

When I did my screening at Kokilaben Hospital, the doctor explained that while stool DNA tests (like Cologuard) are quite accurate, they can sometimes give false positives or miss polyps. It is best to ask your gastroenterologist clearly if a colonoscopy is a better choice for you.

Stool tests are highly effective as an initial non-invasive screening method to detect microscopic blood. However, a positive result does not automatically mean cancer, it just means further investigation is needed. Always consult a specialist to interpret these results correctly.
