How accurate is genetic testing for breast cancer?

My mother and maternal aunt both had breast cancer, which makes me quite worried about my own risk. My doctor mentioned genetic testing as an option to assess my predisposition. I wanted to understand how accurate genetic testing is for breast cancer risk assessment.

Genetic tests like BRCA are highly accurate at finding mutations, but they only show your risk level, not a final diagnosis. While you sort out these tests, try to keep up a healthy routine with regular daily walks if your doctor says it's fine. Staying active helps manage the stress.

These genetic tests are very accurate, but they can be quite expensive in India, often costing upwards of 15,000 to 20,000 rupees. I suggest checking with major labs like Lal PathLabs or SRL for package discounts, and make sure you get a doctor's prescription first to avoid unnecessary testing.

The science behind these DNA tests is so accurate it's almost sci-fi! But remember, having the gene just means you have a higher chance, not a guarantee of getting it. So don't start writing your will just yet, stay positive!

I absolutely panicked when my doctor suggested a genetic test because of family history, thinking I definitely had cancer. But the test was normal, and my doctor explained it's just a preventive check. It is highly accurate and actually gives you a lot of peace of mind once it's done.

Humare yahan ke doctor kehte hain ki ye khoon ki jaanch bahut achhi hoti hai aur parivaar ke baare mein sahi bata deti hai. Aap chinta mat kijiye, bade hospital ke doctor se milkar hi ye test karwayiye. Sab accha hi hoga.

It is a very accurate test for understanding your family risks. Take your time, discuss it with your close family, and consult a good doctor who can guide you gently.

Managing PCOS has made me realize how complex our bodies and hormones are. Genetic testing is highly precise, but it's just one piece of the puzzle. Regular screenings like ultrasounds or mammograms are still very important, so keep in touch with your doctor.

Hey, genetic testing is incredibly accurate for identifying BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes. But please do this under the guidance of a proper genetic counselor. They can explain the results in a way that doesn't feel overwhelming or scary.
