How accurate is garmin sleep tracking?

I recently bought a Garmin watch and have been tracking my sleep, but sometimes the results seem a bit off. I'm wondering how accurate it really is. Is Garmin sleep tracking considered accurate by experts?

In our younger days we never had these devices to tell us how we slept. Garmin is a very good brand, but do not worry if it shows your deep sleep was low on some night. As long as you feel healthy and active throughout the day, your sleep is just fine.

It is quite reliable for seeing your daily patterns and when you went to bed. Don't worry too much about the tiny details on the app. Just focus on a calm routine before you sleep.

I totally get it, when the app shows a bad sleep score it actually makes you feel tired even if you felt fine! Garmin is great for tracking resting heart rate, but the sleep stages are just educated guesses. Don't let it stress you out.

Because of my thyroid, my sleep quality is often all over the place. I use Garmin to keep an eye on my sleep consistency, but I always rely on my regular blood tests and endocrinologist's advice to manage my actual energy levels and health issues.

The doctors at Aster CMI told me that while Garmin has excellent GPS and fitness features, its sleep phase tracking isn't clinically validated. If you are tracking sleep because of a medical issue like insomnia, definitely talk to a doctor instead of relying on the watch.
