How accurate is fitbit sleep tracker?

My Fitbit tracks my steps well, but after using it for a few months, I'm a bit skeptical about its sleep tracking. Sometimes it says I slept well, but I wake up feeling exhausted. Can anyone tell me how accurate the Fitbit sleep tracker actually is?

I used to panic looking at my Fitbit showing zero 'deep sleep' some nights and thought something was seriously wrong with me. But my doctor reassured me that these bands are just estimators and not 100% accurate. Once I stopped obsessing, I actually started sleeping much better!

While a Fitbit sleep tracker is a decent lifestyle tool, please do not rely on it if you are experiencing severe daytime sleepiness or heavy snoring. Those can be signs of sleep apnea. Please consult a pulmonologist or sleep specialist for a proper diagnostic sleep test.

These modern watches are okay, but they can make you worry too much. Instead of checking the screen first thing in the morning, try drinking warm turmeric milk or washing your feet with warm water before sleeping. It works wonders for deep rest, much better than tracking it on a screen.

In our days, we slept when the sun set and woke up with the birds, no machines needed. If your sleep is disturbed, try keeping your room dark, avoid looking at your mobile phone after 8 PM, and have a spoonful of honey in warm water. Nature has the best solutions.

A Fitbit is a good one-time investment of 6-7k to get a basic idea of your sleep patterns. It is much cheaper than running to a private hospital for an expensive sleep study unless your symptoms are really severe. Try adjusting your schedule first using the watch data.

I showed my Fitbit data to a neurologist at Fortis when I was having sleep issues. He clearly told me that while it tracks movement well, it cannot measure actual brain waves which are needed to determine true sleep phases. Take the data with a pinch of salt.

My son's Fitbit was showing very poor sleep quality and we got so worried. It turned out he was just active in his sleep and the sensor was misreading it. Don't worry too much about the daily charts, as long as your child wakes up fresh and active.
