How accurate is chest x ray for lung cancer?

My neighbour was diagnosed with lung cancer recently after a lot of coughing. I've been a smoker for years and have a persistent cough. How accurate is a regular chest x-ray for finding lung cancer early on?

X-rays are basic tests, but they can easily miss small spots or nodules behind the ribs. If you have a persistent cough or chest pain, please don't just rely on an X-ray. Get it thoroughly checked by a specialist for complete safety.

A chest X-ray can show large masses, but it is not 100% accurate for early stages because small tumors can be missed. When we went to Tata Memorial, the doctors clearly explained that a CT scan is much more detailed. You should ask your doctor clearly about the next steps.

Honestly, a chest X-ray is like a low-resolution phone camera—it gets the big picture but misses the small details. If your doctor suspects something, they'll want a high-res CT scan instead. Better to get the right scan and then enjoy some hot parathas peacefully!

An X-ray is useful, but it has limitations in catching early cancer. Please don't try any home remedies or kadhas for a long-standing cough thinking it is just a cold. It is very important to get a proper medical diagnosis done.

I agree, X-rays are not enough for early detection. A CT scan is much more reliable for finding small spots.

An X-ray has a high rate of false negatives for early-stage lung cancer. If you are a smoker or have symptoms, a Low-Dose CT scan is what you actually need. Don't waste time on just basic X-rays if you want accurate results.

X-rays have low accuracy for early screening. While you coordinate with your doctor for advanced scans, try to keep your lungs active with gentle walking in clean air, provided your doctor permits it.

X-ray toh bas upar-upar se dikhata hai, babu. Agar doctor sahib bole hain, toh bada test (CT scan) karwa lijiye. Pareshan mat hoiye, sab thik ho jayega.

A chest X-ray is a simple first step, but it may not catch everything early on. Along with medical advice, practicing gentle pranayama like Kapalbhati helps keep the lungs healthy. But please follow your doctor's testing plan carefully.

I ignored a mild cough for six months thinking it was just pollution, and my first basic X-ray came back normal too. Later, a CT scan showed a lesion. Please don't ignore persistent symptoms even if your X-ray looks clean; get a thorough checkup.
