Have enough sleep?

My doctor recently told me that I need to focus more on getting enough sleep for my overall health. I usually manage about 5-6 hours, but is that really sufficient? How many hours should an adult like me be aiming for to have enough sleep?

I was sleeping barely 4 hours a night last month due to project deadlines and felt like a zombie. I finally had to strictly shut down my laptop by 10 PM. My health has recovered so much since I started prioritizing a full 7-hour cycle.

While lifestyle adjustments like reducing screen time can certainly help, chronic lack of sleep can sometimes stem from underlying clinical issues like thyroid imbalance or sleep apnea. It is always most prudent to discuss this with an expert if it persists.

At my age, I have realized that work and worries will always be there, but your body needs its proper rest. Don't sacrifice your sleep for temporary things, because health once lost is very hard to earn back. Sleep early and stay peaceful.

Since I got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, I realized how much lack of sleep affects my morning fasting sugar levels. If I don't sleep enough, my body gets stressed and my sugar shoots up. Keep a watch on your diet and try to rest well.

I used to get so stressed and anxious if I couldn't sleep by midnight, which made it even harder to sleep! But my doctor told me it's okay to have occasional sleepless nights. Once I stopped tracking every single hour of sleep, my routine fell back into place.
