Es buena la batata para los diabéticos?
My doctor advised me to watch my carb intake for my diabetes. I love batata, and was wondering if sweet potatoes are safe for diabetics? Will it spike my blood sugar too much?

I used to love sweet potatoes (shakarkand) but had to cut them down when my sugar spiked last year. Now I eat them boiled in very small quantities because they have a lower glycemic index than regular potatoes, but you still have to watch the portion. It didn't harm me when eaten occasionally.
Please be very careful with sweet potatoes because even though they are healthier than normal potatoes, they still contain a lot of carbohydrates. I once ignored my diet limits and ended up with dangerously high blood sugar levels. You must consult your doctor or a proper dietician before making them a regular part of your meals.
You do not need to completely stop eating sweet potatoes, just replace normal white potatoes with them in small amounts. For a normal Indian kitchen, just boil half a sweet potato, add some lemon juice and chaat masala, and have it as an afternoon snack. It is cheap, filling, and much better than fried snacks.
If you really want to eat sweet potatoes, boil them instead of baking them, as boiling keeps the glycemic index lower. Adding a pinch of cinnamon powder on top can also help manage blood sugar naturally. But please check with your doctor first if your sugar levels are fluctuating a lot.
I know how frustrating it is when you have to question literally everything you put on your plate. When I was told to avoid regular potatoes, I felt so lost, but sweet potatoes in moderation helped satisfy that craving. It is hard, but you will slowly figure out what portions work for your body.
Sweet potato is actually much better than regular batata, yaar. It has more fiber so it does not spike your sugar instantly. But don't go eating sweet potato fries or anything like that, just stick to normal boiled or roasted ones in small portions.
