Does wine help you sleep?

I've been struggling with insomnia lately, and some friends told me that having a small glass of wine before bed can help you fall asleep faster. Is this a good idea for improving sleep, or does it actually disrupt sleep quality in the long run?

While wine might make you fall asleep quickly, it actually ruins your deep sleep cycle. I used to drink a glass of red wine to relax, but I would always wake up tired and dehydrated at 3 AM. Switching to herbal tea or warm milk works much better for actual rest.

As a pharma professional, I can tell you that using alcohol as a sleep aid is a bad idea. It relaxes your throat muscles, which can actually increase snoring and sleep apnea. If you have chronic insomnia, please consult a healthcare professional for safe options.

I was looking this up recently because my sleep schedule is so messed up. Most research says alcohol acts as a sedative initially, but as it processes, it disrupts REM sleep, which explains why we feel groggy the next day.

Actually yaar, wine makes you drowsy for sure, but the sleep quality is super trash. I woke up with a headache and felt even more tired the next day. Better to avoid it if you actually want real, restful sleep.

Beta, do not rely on wine for sleep. A warm glass of milk with a pinch of nutmeg or a little turmeric before bed is a much safer, traditional way to calm your mind and get natural sleep without harming your liver.
