Does whooping cough cause fever?

My son has been coughing a lot lately, and it sounds quite severe, almost like a whooping sound. He doesn't have a high fever, just a mild temperature. I'm wondering if whooping cough always comes with a fever?

Yes, it usually starts with a mild fever, runny nose, and a normal cough before the severe coughing fits begin. My daughter had this last year and the fever wasn't very high, but the cough was intense. Keep the room humidified and ensure they get plenty of fluids.

Yes, it can cause a low-grade fever initially. I once ignored a persistent cough and mild fever thinking it was a regular cold, and it turned into severe bronchitis that took months to heal. Please get a proper doctor's checkup immediately if the cough is sounding weird.

Yes, it often brings a mild fever along with it! 🤒 It is very contagious, so make sure to isolate, rest well, and take the medications your doctor prescribes. Wishing a very speedy recovery!

Whooping cough fever is usually mild, but the worst part is the cough makes it so hard to eat or enjoy your favorite food. When my nephew had it, he couldn't swallow anything spicy or heavy, so we had to stick to very light, warm khichdi and soups.

Yes, a mild fever is common in the beginning stages. If you or your kid has this, please avoid any heavy physical exertion or outdoor walks and rest completely. Let the doctor clear you for light activities only after the infection is fully cured.

When my younger sibling had whooping cough, there was a mild fever during the first week. I can't give medical advice on symptoms, but in our experience, a pediatrician's consultation was absolutely necessary to get the right antibiotics.
