Does whiskey help tooth pain?

My grandson is having some bad toothache, and the dentist appointment is still a few days away. I remember my grandmother used to say that a little bit of whiskey dabbed on the tooth helps with the pain. Is this actually true or just an old wives' tale?

Using alcohol to escape physical pain is not a healthy path. Keep your thoughts positive and seek proper medical healing for your teeth.

Please don't use whiskey for tooth pain, it is just a temporary trick and can cause more irritation. Just like managing thyroid, dental issues also need proper doctor visits and regular checkups.

Whiskey can temporarily numb the gums because of its alcohol content, but it does not cure the infection. My dentist explicitly warned that alcohol can damage the soft tissues in the mouth.

I panicked when my wisdom tooth started hurting at midnight and almost tried putting alcohol on it. But simple warm salt water gargles are much safer and actually helped soothe the area until I saw my dentist.

Tooth pain is absolutely agonizing and can make you feel so desperate that you'll try anything. I completely feel your pain, but please don't use whiskey as it can aggravate the inflammation.

I had a severe toothache last week and tried rubbing alcohol on it, which only made the burning sensation worse. I had to go for a root canal, so please just see a doctor directly.

I also heard about this from a friend, but I am too scared to try it. Does anyone know if clove oil is safer to use for temporary relief?

While old myths suggest alcohol numbs pain, it is highly unsafe and can lead to chemical burns on your gums. The only correct solution for tooth pain is a professional dental evaluation.

Don't do these dangerous home experiments, my friend. If you have an infection, whiskey will only make it worse; please book an appointment with a dentist today.
