Does walking help sciatica pain?

Sciatica pain has been bothering me for weeks, making it hard to even stand properly. A friend told me that light walking could actually help ease the discomfort. Has anyone with sciatica found relief by walking?

I was just reading about this because my dad has been complaining of leg pain. Some medical blogs say short walks keep the nerve active, but long walks can aggravate it. Seems like finding a balance is key.

I get so worried when my back flares up, thinking it's sciatica. When I tried walking, it helped a little, but I kept overthinking if my posture was wrong. Just walk very slowly and stop the second you feel any shooting pain.

Sciatica is no joke, it feels like an electric current running down my leg! A short, slow walk around the park helps stretch it out, but don't try to be a hero and walk for miles. Keep it very brief.

I freaked out when my doctor first mentioned sciatica, but he assured me it's very manageable. Regular, short walks on flat ground really helped me recover and get back to normal life pretty quickly.

A warm compress followed by a very gentle 10-minute walk can help ease the nerve stiffness. But if you feel any weakness or sudden loss of sensation in your foot, please do not walk and see a doctor immediately.

Walking keeps the spinal discs hydrated, which helps reduce pressure on the sciatic nerve. Keep your core slightly engaged while walking and avoid walking on slopes. Pair it with light glute stretches if your physio allows.

I tried hot water bags, herbal oils, and everything for my sciatica. Ultimately, what worked best was a daily 15-minute walk on a flat path. Just make sure to wear highly cushioned walking shoes.

Yes, gentle walking can help ease the pressure on your back. Just take very small steps and go only as far as your body feels comfortable.
