Does vomiting relieve heartburn?

Bad heartburn is something I frequently suffer from, especially after certain meals. Sometimes the burning sensation gets so intense that I wonder if forcing myself to vomit would provide some instant relief. Can vomiting actually help with heartburn symptoms?

Vomiting will actually make your heartburn much worse because it forces highly acidic stomach juices back up your esophagus. As someone managing high BP, I know how stress affects the body, so I suggest avoiding such strain. Please consult a doctor for proper lifestyle changes and antacids.

Throwing up won't help and can damage your throat lining. For mild heartburn, try drinking a glass of cold milk or some fennel seed water. However, if you also have chest pain or breathing issues, please go to a doctor immediately as it could be something more serious.

No, it does not relieve heartburn. It's a terrible idea because the reflux acid is what causes the heartburn in the first place, so throwing up just doubles the burn. Get a proper OTC antacid or see a doctor.

Don't try to force vomit to cure acidity; it will only lead to more throat irritation and potential doctor visits. It's much cheaper to prevent it by eating small meals on time and taking a basic antacid after checking with a local chemist.

Please do not do this. I once tried to force myself to throw up during a severe acid attack, and it ended up tearing my esophagus, which required emergency medical care. If your heartburn is constant and severe, please see a specialist.
