Does vomiting help gerd?

I've been diagnosed with GERD, and sometimes the acid reflux is so bad that I feel like I could vomit. If I do vomit, does it actually provide any relief for the GERD symptoms, or does it just make things worse in the long run?

No, vomiting actually makes GERD much worse because the strong stomach acid severely burns your food pipe. Try drinking cold milk or fennel seed water to soothe the acidity, and consult a doctor if the burning continues.

Throwing up to cure GERD is like burning your house down to get rid of a mosquito! It only irritates your throat more. Better to skip the late-night samosas and sleep with a high pillow.

I used to think throwing up would empty my stomach and stop the acid reflux, but it actually made my throat raw and worsened my symptoms. Eating smaller meals and not lying down immediately after eating helped me so much more.

I recently dealt with chronic GERD and forced vomiting only damaged my esophagus further. Once I stopped doing that and started taking my doctor's prescribed antacids regularly, my reflux finally came under control.

Vomiting actually weakens the lower esophageal sphincter over time, which makes GERD even worse. I track my triggers on my health app, and avoiding high-fat meals and caffeine has been the most effective solution for me.

I used to ignore my acid reflux and would just throw up to feel lighter. It completely damaged my food pipe and now I am on long-term medication. Please don't do this and get a proper checkup done by a doctor.

No, do not try to throw up. It will only harm your internal systems. Chew on a piece of liquorice (mulethi) or have a glass of cold water slowly to calm the heat in your chest.

Vomiting is highly detrimental for GERD patients as it exposes the esophagus to highly concentrated gastric acid. My specialist at Apollo warned that this can lead to severe complications, so you must get a proper medical prescription instead.
