Does vomiting cause acidosis or alkalosis?

We were discussing acid-base balance in my anatomy class, and I got a bit confused about the effects of vomiting. Does prolonged or severe vomiting typically lead to acidosis or alkalosis in the body? I need to understand this better for my exams.

I went through a horrible phase of severe stomach infections and continuous throwing up. It really messed up my body chemistry and made me feel so weak and anxious. It causes alkalosis because you lose a lot of acid, and it takes time to feel normal again.

Don't rely on self-diagnosis or online explanations for acid-base imbalances. Severe vomiting causes metabolic alkalosis due to loss of hydrochloric acid, but this can be dangerous. You need to get your electrolytes checked by a real doctor immediately.

Hey, don't stress too much about these big medical terms! Basically, vomiting makes you lose acid, which leads to alkalosis. Just drink some glucose water, rest up, and you'll be perfectly fine in a day or two.

The body is a beautiful, balanced temple. When we vomit, we lose a lot of stomach acid, which leads to metabolic alkalosis. Praying for your quick recovery—just drink plenty of water, keep your mind peaceful, and take care.

It causes metabolic alkalosis because your stomach is losing its acidic juices! Make sure you sip some ORS or coconut water to get those lost electrolytes back. Get well soon! 😊

In my seventy years, I have seen many family members get dehydrated from severe vomiting, which we now know causes alkalosis. Just focus on giving the patient small spoonfuls of salted rice water or electral, and they will recover steadily.
