Does vicks help fever?

My little one has a mild fever today, and I'm trying to make him comfortable. My aunt told me to rub Vicks on his feet or chest to help bring the fever down. Does Vicks actually have any fever-reducing properties, or is it more for congestion?

In our family, we use light cold water sponging for high fever, which is very effective. Vicks only helps with cold and nasal congestion, it cannot bring down your internal body temperature. If the fever is high, please consult a doctor for proper medicine.

Vicks doesn't cure fever at all, it only helps with body aches or blocked nose that come with it. During fever, focus on drinking warm herbal teas, staying hydrated, and eating light khichdi. See a doctor if the fever doesn't drop.

I always panic when I get a fever and used to rub Vicks all over. But actually, it only makes your skin feel cool while the fever remains the same. It is better to check your temperature with a thermometer and take paracetamol if the doctor advised.

No yaar, Vicks doesn't actually reduce fever. It just helps you breathe better if you have a cold along with it. If you have a proper fever, you need paracetamol, so better consult a doc.

When my son had a high fever, the pediatrician at Apollo clearly told us not to rub Vicks on his chest or back, as it doesn't reduce fever and can sometimes cause skin irritation. Always ask your doctor clearly for the right dosage of fever medicine instead.
