Does vicks help asthma?

My son has mild asthma, and sometimes when he gets a cold, his breathing gets a bit wheezy. My mother-in-law suggested applying Vicks VapoRub to his chest. Is Vicks actually helpful for managing asthma symptoms, or should I avoid it?

No beta, Vicks should never be used for asthma. It actually has strong camphor and menthol which can irritate the airways and trigger a severe asthma attack. Please rely only on the inhalers prescribed by your doctor.

Arre, Vicks is the national cure-all for Indian moms, but please don't use it for asthma! It will make you feel like your chest is cool, but in reality, it can choke up your breathing tubes even more. Keep the inhaler close, not the blue tub!

Bro, absolutely not. My roommate has chronic asthma and our doctor strictly warned us against using Vicks or steam with strong balms near him. It can literally trigger an emergency, so keep it far away.

I get so scared during breathing issues and used to apply Vicks thinking it would open up my chest. But then I read that the strong smell can actually make bronchospasms worse! Please be very careful and stick to the doctor's plan.

I love home remedies, but for asthma, Vicks is a big no. It only gives a false sensation of clearing the nose but does nothing for the lungs. Stick to warm water steam without adding any balms, and use your pumps.

Hey, don't stress too much, but please avoid Vicks for asthma. The strong chemicals can irritate your sensitive lungs and cause more coughing. Just stick to your doctor's inhalers and stay safe!
