Does venlafaxine affect liver?

My doctor prescribed venlafaxine for anxiety, and I'm always cautious about potential medication side effects. I was wondering if there's any information on whether this drug can impact liver function. My next appointment is still some time away.

I am always super cautious about how medications affect our internal organs, especially with my PCOS. While venlafaxine is generally safe, it is processed by the liver, so some people might see changes in liver enzymes. Please speak to your psychiatrist to be safe.

My liver enzymes actually went up slightly when I was on a high dose of venlafaxine, which my doctor caught during a routine blood test. I had to switch medications. Please do not skip your regular blood checkups and consult your doctor if you feel unusually tired or nauseous.

It can occasionally cause mild changes in liver function tests, but it is rare. If your doctor allows, keeping up with regular moderate walking and a clean diet can help support your overall liver health while you are on medication.

I totally understand why you are anxious about this, I used to worry about every single side effect when I started this medicine. For most people, it does not cause any liver damage. Just share your fears with your doctor, they will reassure you.

In my experience, modern psychiatric medicines are necessary but they do put some load on our organs. Along with the prescribed medicine, practicing gentle pranayama and drinking warm water daily can help keep your body balanced. Always let your doctor monitor your dosage.

Since I have diabetes, I always check how any new pill affects my liver and kidneys. Venlafaxine is mostly safe, but if you have any pre-existing liver issues, the doctor might need to adjust the dose. Get a routine LFT test done if you are concerned.

Look, if the doctor has prescribed it, they know what they are doing. Severe liver issues from venlafaxine are very rare. Just don't self-medicate or change the dose yourself, and you will be perfectly fine.

Actually even I was prescribed this recently and I've been scared to start it because of this reason. Has anyone here actually had their liver enzymes go up because of venlafaxine? Please let me know.

Beta, don't worry too much. Millions of people take this medicine safely without any liver issues. Doctors usually do a simple blood test before and during the treatment just to be absolutely sure your liver is coping well.

Hey, don't stress too much about this! Your doctor wouldn't give it to you if it wasn't safe. Just take your dose on time, avoid alcohol completely, and you'll be absolutely fine.
