Does vaseline help eczema?

My eczema flares up quite badly sometimes, and my skin gets really dry and itchy. I've heard that plain Vaseline might help to soothe it and lock in moisture. Has anyone here used it for eczema, and did it make a difference?

It definitely helps to lock in moisture, especially right after a bath. I've tried everything from coconut oil to neem, but plain Vaseline is amazing for preventing the skin from drying out and cracking. Just apply it on damp skin.

It helps protect the skin barrier when you sweat during workouts. I apply a thin layer before my daily walks to prevent friction. Just check with your dermatologist to see if it suits your specific skin type.

Yes, it helps a lot by creating a protective barrier on the skin. It won't cure eczema completely, but it gives great relief from the constant itching and dryness.

It is actually highly recommended because it has no added fragrance or chemicals to irritate the skin further. Apply a thick layer after washing. But remember, if the eczema is flared up and red, you might need a proper medicated cream from a doctor.

Expensive lotions didn't work for my son's dry skin patches, but simple white petroleum jelly did the trick. It is very cheap, easily available, and safe. Just apply it twice a day regularly.
