Does vaping cause cavities?

I've started noticing more cavities than usual since I picked up vaping a year ago. Is there a connection, or is it just bad luck? Does vaping contribute to dental issues like cavities?

I felt so ashamed when my dentist found three new cavities last year, especially since I thought vaping was safe. It really took a toll on my self-esteem to realize I was doing this to my own teeth. Your feelings are completely valid, but please face it and get them treated.

Let's be straight: the sweet aerosols in vapes coat your teeth with sticky chemical residue, and dry mouth just speeds up the decay. If you are going to vape, you have to expect dental issues. Get a dentist to fix it and stop vaping if you want a permanent fix.

Yes, vaping dries out your mouth, which makes it much easier for bacteria to grow and cause cavities.

If you cannot quit vaping immediately, at least start rinsing your mouth with plain water after every session. Keep yourself hydrated throughout the day to keep the saliva flowing, which naturally protects your teeth. It is a simple and free habit that will save you some trouble.

I ignored a tiny black spot on my molar for a year thinking it was just a stain, and ended up needing a painful root canal and cap. If you vape and notice any sensitivity or spots, please get a checkup immediately. Don't wait until the pain starts keeping you awake at night.

I totally get it, dental pain is so frustrating and finding out vaping might be the cause is stressful. It's really hard to balance habits with health sometimes. Just take a deep breath, start drinking more water to combat the dry mouth, and see a dentist soon.

Dental treatments in private clinics are incredibly expensive nowadays, easily costing thousands for fillings and root canals. It is much cheaper to quit vaping now than to pay for heavy dental bills later. Plan a budget for a basic dental cleanup first before things get worse.

Dry mouth caused by PG/VG in vapes is a major contributor to enamel erosion. For your safety, you should get a proper dental checkup rather than trying to diagnose the extent of the decay yourself. Only a dentist can tell if you need active treatment.
