Does valsartan cause erectile dysfunction?

My doctor recently prescribed Valsartan for my high blood pressure. I'm generally concerned about medication side effects, especially those affecting personal life. Can Valsartan cause issues like erectile dysfunction?

Dealing with high blood pressure is tiring enough, and then we have to worry about these side effects! While Valsartan is actually known to have a much lower risk of causing ED compared to older BP medications, it can still happen occasionally. Best to laugh it off with your doctor and ask for a solution.

Actually, Valsartan is one of the few BP drugs that rarely causes ED, and some studies even suggest it might improve blood flow. If you are facing issues, try incorporating cardio exercises and a clean diet to boost your natural circulation, alongside your doctor's advice.

When I had doubts about my BP medication, I went to a cardiologist at a reputed hospital. He clearly explained that Valsartan is generally very safe for male sexual health, but you should still discuss any changes you feel openly with your physician.

I was just prescribed Valsartan for my high BP and I am a bit embarrassed to ask about this. Is this a very common side effect, or does it only happen to a few people who are already on multiple medications?

Don't stress yourself out over this, it's a very common concern but Valsartan is actually quite safe in this department. Just keep taking your medicine as prescribed for your heart's safety, and talk to your doctor comfortably if you notice any changes.
