Does urologist treat kidney?

My doctor mentioned that I might need to see a specialist for my kidney issues, but I'm a bit confused. Do urologists typically treat general kidney problems, or are they only for specific conditions? I want to make sure I go to the right doctor.

I am so confused about this! I have some kidney pain and don't know whether to book a urologist or a nephrologist. Has anyone else faced this confusion?

Yes, they do. Basically, if it's a structural or surgical issue like kidney stones or blockages, a urologist treats it. If it's a functional issue like kidney failure or dialysis, you need a nephrologist.

Simple baat hai, urologist surgical and urinary tract parts dekhta hai, including kidneys. Agar stone hai toh urologist ke paas jao. Bina baat tension mat lo.

They definitely do, especially for kidney stones. While the urologist does the main treatment, I found that drinking lots of warm water and barley water helped me recover much faster.

Don't listen to random internet opinions for kidney issues. Yes, urologists handle surgical kidney problems, but you must consult your general physician first to get the right specialist referral.

From what I understand, they handle physical issues like stones. Having PCOS makes me very cautious about specialist visits, so I always ask my primary doctor to recommend the exact specialist I need.
