Does urgent care give pain meds?

I've got a really bad backache that suddenly flared up, and I can't wait for a regular doctor's appointment. If I go to an urgent care clinic, can they prescribe pain medication to help me out?

Yes, they can prescribe pain medications for short-term relief. But if you have high blood pressure, always remind them before they write any prescription, as some pain meds can raise your BP.

They can write a prescription for pain relief in emergencies. While the medicine helps the physical body, practicing deep breathing or Shavasana can also help calm your nervous system and reduce pain perception.

They do give pain medicine for immediate relief, but it is temporary. For mild aches, I always try ginger tea or warm compresses first. But if the pain is too much, definitely go to urgent care.

Yes, they will help you with pain meds, they won't make you suffer! Just don't expect them to give you the super strong stuff to take home like candy.

Yes, they prescribe pain relievers, but they have very strict guidelines, especially for strong painkillers. My doctor mentioned that urgent cares usually only give a 3 to 5-day supply for acute pain, not long-term.
