Does typhoid vaccine make you sick?

I'm planning to get vaccinated for typhoid before my hostel admission. Some of my friends who got it told me they felt a bit unwell afterward. Can the typhoid vaccine really make you feel sick for a day or two?

Look, it won't make you seriously sick. At most, you will get a mild fever or a heavy arm for a day, which is completely normal for any vaccine. Take a crocin if the doctor said so, sleep it off, and you'll be fine by next morning.

I was also very worried that I would fall ill and miss my exams. I kept checking my temperature every hour after the shot. But honestly, I only had a very mild headache and some tiredness, nothing like actual sickness. Just keep some electrolyte water handy.

I completely understand your fear, as I used to panic before any vaccination thinking it would make me bedridden. But the typhoid shot only causes very minor reactions like mild fever or body ache. It's just your immune system starting to work, so don't worry.

Haan, thoda sa fever aur body pain toh ho sakta hai, par woh bas ek din ke liye hota hai na. Usse bimaar hona nahi bolte, bas body vaccine ko adjust karti hai. Aaram karo ek din, sab theek ho jayega.

My son had his typhoid vaccine last month. He had a slight fever of around 99 for one night and felt a bit lazy. I just gave him light food like khichdi and let him rest, and he was back to school the next afternoon.

The vaccine might make you feel a little heavy or warm, which is just the body's natural response. Drink plenty of warm water, do some light deep breathing or pranayama, and allow your body to rest fully for a day.

I panicked when my body temperature touched 99.5 the night after the vaccine, thinking something went wrong. But my doctor assured me it's totally normal. By the second day, the fever was completely gone and I felt absolutely fine.

While standard side effects like mild fever or sore arm are normal, if you get a very high fever or severe allergic reaction, you shouldn't ignore it. It's rare, but if symptoms persist beyond two days, please visit your doctor immediately to be safe.
