Does typhoid fever still exist?

I recently heard about someone in my building getting typhoid fever, and it made me think. I always thought typhoid was a disease from older times or very rare now because of sanitation. Does typhoid fever still exist commonly, especially in India?

Yes bro, it very much exists. I literally got down with typhoid last monsoon after eating some street food near my college. It took me two whole weeks of heavy antibiotics and complete bed rest to recover.

Oh, it definitely exists and it's quite scary because of water contamination during rains! I get so anxious about eating outside now, especially uncooked salads or juices. Please make sure you only drink boiled or filtered water to stay safe.

Haan yaar, my roommate just got diagnosed with it last week. He was having high fever and stomach pain, and the doctor confirmed it was typhoid from hostel food. It is still super common in India.

Yes, it is still quite common here due to contaminated food or water. Please don't worry, it is fully curable with a proper course of antibiotics. Take care and drink plenty of clean fluids.

Typhoid is very much prevalent, especially during the rainy season. Having dealt with it twice, my advice is to get a Widal or Typhidot test done if your fever persists for more than 3 days. Complete the full antibiotic course prescribed by your doctor, even if you start feeling better midway.
