Does type 3 diabetes exist?

While reading some articles online about different types of diabetes, I came across the term 'Type 3 diabetes.' I only knew about Type 1 and Type 2. Is 'Type 3 diabetes' actually a recognized medical condition, or is it just a term people use?

It is so overwhelming when you start hearing new medical terms like Type 3 diabetes, especially when you are already dealing with family health issues. It is completely natural to feel confused and scared about these connections between sugar and memory.

Actually, my uncle was recently diagnosed with severe memory issues and his neurologist mentioned that researchers sometimes call Alzheimer's 'Type 3 diabetes' because of insulin resistance in the brain. It was a completely new term for us, but it emphasizes how much sugar affects our brain health too.

Oh wow, I had no idea about this term! 😮 It sounds a bit scary but it basically just means we need to keep our brain and body healthy by eating less junk. Stay active and happy!

I was just reading some health blogs last night and found out that Type 3 diabetes isn't an official medical diagnosis yet. It is just a term scientists use to describe how insulin resistance can lead to cognitive decline and brain health issues. Pretty interesting research.

Since this is linked to brain health, my grandmother always advised eating soaked almonds and walnuts daily to keep the mind sharp. Along with our doctor's advice, keeping a simple, traditional diet and staying mentally active with puzzles or reading really helps the brain.

My doctor clarified that 'Type 3 diabetes' is a highly informal term used in research papers to describe insulin resistance in the brain, which is linked to Alzheimer's disease. Clinically, it is not recognized as a separate category of diabetes by the WHO or ADA yet. Always trust established clinical guidelines.

I suffered from severe diabetic neuropathy because I neglected my high sugar for years. If you are noticing any cognitive issues or severe memory fog along with high blood sugar, please do not ignore it. Consult a neurologist and endocrinologist immediately.

Whether it is Type 2 or this newly researched Type 3, treating neurological issues can get extremely expensive in private hospitals. My advice is to keep a basic budget aside for regular brain health checkups and HbA1c tests, and try to utilize government diagnostic centers to save costs.
