Does type 2 diabetes cause erectile dysfunction?

Diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes for a few years now, lately I've started facing some issues with erectile dysfunction. I'm not sure if this is related to my diabetes or if it's something else. Can Type 2 diabetes actually cause ED?

Yes, it actually does because high sugar damages blood vessels and nerves over time. I faced this exact issue last year when my HbA1c went up to 9.5. Once I got my blood sugar back under control with proper medication and lifestyle changes, the problem improved significantly.

I have been experiencing this lately and honestly, it is making me very anxious. I was diagnosed with Type 2 two years ago but haven't been very strict with my diet. Has anyone else managed to reverse this completely just by controlling their sugar levels?

I deal with thyroid issues and know how hormonal and metabolic imbalances mess with the body. When your sugar levels are high, it affects everything. You should definitely get a complete hormone panel and blood sugar tests done regularly, and show the results to your doctor to find the root cause.

Let's be direct—yes, it is a very common side effect of poorly managed diabetes. High sugar restricts blood flow, which causes ED. Don't feel embarrassed about it; just book an appointment with an endocrinologist or urologist and get it sorted. It's a medical issue, not a personal failure.

Listen, don't stress yourself out too much over this. Stress only makes it worse. It is a very natural physiological response to high blood sugar levels. Talk to your doctor openly, get your prescription adjusted, and focus on your daily walks. Things will get better once the sugar levels stabilize.

Yes, chronic hyperglycemia damages the autonomic nervous system and compromises blood circulation, leading to erectile dysfunction. This is a well-documented medical complication of Type 2 diabetes. Please consult your physician rather than self-medicating with over-the-counter supplements, as they can interact with diabetes medications.
