Does tonsillitis cause high fever?

My son has been complaining of a sore throat, and I think it might be tonsillitis. He's also developed a fever. Does tonsillitis typically cause a very high fever, or should I be worried about something else?

My son gets this every winter and his temperature shoots up very fast. Keep a damp cloth on the forehead to bring down the fever and give soft foods like khichdi. Please consult your pediatrician soon for proper medicine.

Yes, chronic tonsillitis absolutely causes a high fever, sometimes going up to 102-103 degrees. When I had it, warm saline gargles 4 times a day and staying hydrated helped, but you will need antibiotics from a doctor if it is a bacterial infection.

I know how scary it feels when the fever suddenly spikes and your throat is swollen shut. Yes, tonsillitis is notorious for causing high fevers, but try to stay calm. A quick visit to the doctor will get you the right meds and you'll feel better soon.

Tonsillitis loves drama, so it definitely brings a high fever along with it! Don't worry, a couple of days of rest, warm soup, and doctor's pills will throw that fever right out of your system.

Yes, it causes high fever. Don't waste days trying home remedies if the temperature is high. Go to a local clinic immediately, get diagnosed, take your meds, and get back to work in 3 days.

My throat is hurting so much and I have a 101 fever. Is tonsillitis contagious? I am staying with my roommates and I don't want them to catch this high fever too.

Yes it does, but stop looking for herbal throat sprays or random online remedies to cure a high fever. A high temperature means a real infection, so get a proper clinical checkup and take verified medicines.

Haan na, tonsils mein toh bohot tez bukhar aata hai, thand bhi lagti hai. Doctor ko dikha kar proper medication chalu karo, ho na. Ghar pe thoda gunguna pani pite raho relief milega.

Bukhar toh aata hi hai tonsils mein. Doctor se paracetamol aur throat pain ki dawai le lo. Saath mein namak-pani ka kulla karo din mein teen baar, isse throat swelling mein bohot jaldi aaram milta hai.

Currently awake at 4 AM swallowing spit like it's broken glass because of my tonsils. Yes, the fever is high and the misery is higher. Go to a doctor before you end up sleepless like me!

Yes, a high fever is your body's immune response fighting the infection. Definitely take complete rest now and skip your workouts or walks until the doctor says your temperature has normalized.

Bro, yes, it completely knocks you out with high fever and chills. I had it last month. Don't sit around, just see a doctor, get some antibiotics, and drink warm water. It goes away in 4-5 days.

Don't panic, high fever is very standard with bad tonsillitis. Take a paracetamol to control the temperature for now, wrap up warm, and let's get you checked by a doctor tomorrow morning. You'll be fine.

High fever is a common symptom of severe tonsillitis. I suggest visiting an ENT specialist at a good hospital. Ask them clearly if it is viral or bacterial so you don't take unnecessary medications.

Bro, yes. Last semester my throat was fully jammed and I had a 102 fever during exams. Just go to the college clinic and get some paracetamol and antibiotics prescribed. Don't try to struggle through it.
