Does tomato cause arthritis?

My mother has been suffering from joint pain for a while now, and someone advised her to cut down on tomatoes. They said tomatoes can cause arthritis or make it worse. Is there any scientific basis for this?

From what I have read, tomatoes don't cause arthritis. Some people believe nightshade vegetables can trigger inflammation, but there is no strong medical proof. If your joints are hurting, it is best to consult a rheumatologist rather than cutting out healthy veggies.

Wait, really? My knees have been cracking a lot lately and I eat tomatoes almost daily in my salads. Now I am getting worried. Has anyone else noticed their joint pain getting worse after eating tomatoes?

Tomatoes do not cause arthritis, beta. In ayurveda, we believe keeping the body's 'vata' balanced is important, so eating cooked tomatoes instead of raw ones is easier on the system. For joint stiffness, a gentle warm mustard oil massage helps a lot.

Haan na, log kuch bhi bolte hain aajkal internet pe! Tomatoes are actually full of antioxidants. Arthritits toh age or uric acid badhne se hota hai generally. Just eat healthy ghar ka khana and don't worry.

Please don't blame tomatoes and delay going to a doctor. I ignored minor joint pain for months thinking it was just a food reaction, and it turned out to be early arthritis. Go get your uric acid and rheumatoid factor tested by a professional.
