Does tizanidine make you sleep?

My doctor prescribed Tizanidine for my back pain, and I find myself feeling very sleepy after taking it, sometimes even lightheaded. Is it common for this medicine to make you feel drowsy or fall asleep? I'm finding it hard to stay awake.

Oh, it absolutely makes you very sleepy! I tried warm milk, chamomile tea, and hot water bags for my muscle pain, but when I finally had to take Tizanidine, it completely knocked me out. Take it only at night right before bed, otherwise you won't be able to function during the day.

In my experience, yes, it brings on a very deep sleep, which actually helped my body heal from the terrible back spasms I had. Don't be afraid of the drowsiness, it is just the medicine relaxing your nerves so you can rest. Just take it and sleep peacefully.

Absolutely, it has a very strong sedative effect. I made the mistake of taking it in the morning once and could barely keep my eyes open at work. Strictly stick to nighttime dosage as advised by your physician.

Yes, it is a very strong muscle relaxant and drowsiness is the most common side effect. I was prescribed this after a severe muscle tear, and it helped me rest and recover, but I couldn't train at all because of the fatigue. Make sure you don't drive or do heavy workouts after taking it.
