Does thyroid cause tiredness?

For the past few months, there's been constant drainage, even after a full night's sleep. My colleagues joke that I'm getting old, but a suspicion has grown that it might be something else. Could an imbalance in my thyroid be the reason for this constant fatigue?

Yes, absolutely! I used to feel completely exhausted even after 9 hours of sleep. My simple advice is to get a blood test first to see your levels, and try to include a 15-minute walk daily. It really helps lift the heavy energy.

Honestly, I was struggling to even climb stairs last month because of severe fatigue. Got diagnosed with high TSH, started my daily medicine, and now I feel 90% back to my normal active self. It gets better very quickly once you start the treatment.

Fatigue is actually the classic symptom of hypothyroidism because the thyroid hormone controls your body's energy production. My endocrinologist explained that when T3 and T4 levels drop, your metabolism slows down to a crawl. Taking the prescribed dose on an empty stomach every morning is key to reversing this.

I completely understand what you are going through, it is so frustrating when people call you lazy but you are actually physically drained. The brain fog and lack of energy from thyroid issues can really take a toll on your mental health. Please be kind to yourself, it is just the hormone acting up.

I also used to feel like a zombie all day due to my thyroid. The only way to manage this exhaustion is to stay on top of your medications and do regular TSH tests. If your dose is correct, the tiredness will completely go away.
