Does thyroid affect sex drive?

Lately, I've been feeling unusually tired and also noticed a reduced interest in sex. I have a known thyroid issue. Can thyroid problems impact my sex drive like this?

Yes, a slow thyroid makes you feel exhausted, which naturally affects your sex drive. If your doctor permits, try adding some regular exercise like brisk walking or strength training to boost your stamina. But definitely get your thyroid levels balanced first.

Yes, both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism can significantly lower your sex drive. It is a very common hormonal side effect and usually improves with treatment.

When our inner energies and hormones are disturbed, our natural desires also fade. Yes, the thyroid is central to this energy. Stay positive, eat fresh food, and seek proper medical guidance to bring your body back to its natural flow.

My endocrinologist explained that thyroid hormones affect the production of sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG). This directly impacts testosterone and estrogen levels, leading to a drop in sex drive. Getting your TSH into the optimal range is the first step to fixing this.

I felt so much guilt and emotional distress when my drive vanished because of my underactive thyroid, and it really affected my relationship. It was such a relief to know it was just a medical issue and not my fault. Please know you are not alone, and getting treated helps so much.
