Does the us vaccinate for tb?

I'm planning to go to the US for higher studies next year, and I'm looking into all the health requirements. My parents were asking about vaccinations, especially for TB. Does the US vaccinate for TB or is it not common there?

From what I researched when my son was planning to go abroad, the US does not give the BCG vaccine routinely like we do in India. They have very low rates of TB, so they only give it in very rare, specific cases.

No, they generally don't use the BCG vaccine for tuberculosis over there. Don't worry, if you are traveling, your Indian BCG vaccination should still be documented.

Actually, they don't do routine TB vaccines in the US. When I went there, they made me take a TB skin test instead because I had the BCG vaccine in India. If you are moving there, just keep your vaccination records handy.

Please don't rely on random online forums for travel or visa vaccination requirements. Speak directly to an authorized travel health clinic or your visa doctor to know what is actually needed for your specific case.

No, they don't do it routinely in the US! They usually rely on testing and treatment instead of giving the BCG shot. Safe travels if you are planning a trip soon!

I know how stressful it can be to figure out medical rules for other countries. The US doesn't routinely vaccinate for TB, which is why we sometimes have to go through extra screening tests. Just take it one step at a time.

In our times, everyone here got the BCG vaccine, but in the US, they have different policies and don't vaccinate everyone. There is no need to worry, their doctors are very familiar with handling students and travelers from India.
