Does the sun give you skin cancer?

A news report recently highlighted increasing rates of skin cancer and the sun as a major factor. I use sunscreen, but I also enjoy being out in nature. How much exposure is too much, and does the sun definitely cause skin cancer?

I had a mole that started changing shape after I spent months working outdoors without any protection. It turned out to be a pre-cancerous lesion, and I had to undergo surgery. Please see a dermatologist if you notice any unusual skin changes.

While a clean diet rich in antioxidants helps fight free radicals, it cannot stop direct UV damage. External protection like sunscreen and physical covering is absolutely necessary to prevent skin cell mutation.

I totally get it, reading about these health risks can be really scary and overwhelming. Just taking small steps like wearing a cap and applying sunscreen daily can make a huge difference in keeping you safe.

In our younger days, we worked in the fields all day without knowing about UV rays, but the climate was different then. Now, with rising temperatures and ozone changes, protecting yourself is definitely a wise decision.

Yes, UV exposure is a big risk factor. I always carry an umbrella and wear a scarf during summers because the Indian sun can get really harsh on the skin.

I get so anxious whenever I see new spots on my arms after going out in the sun. Is it just a tan or something dangerous? Please use a high SPF sunscreen and try to stay in the shade as much as possible.

Honestly, the only thing I want to catch under the sun is a nice plate of hot pakoras at a roadside stall! But yes, those UV rays are no joke, so apply that sunscreen before you head out for your food walk.
