Does the military check your mental health records?

I'm planning to apply for the armed forces next year, and I'm very keen on joining. A while back, I had a short period of anxiety, and I saw a therapist briefly. I'm worried if this will affect my application – do they check past mental health records very strictly?

Yes, they do detailed medical and psychological background checks during selection. Keeping a healthy mind is as important as running. I find that a daily run and meditation keeps my mental focus very sharp, which is always good for physicals.

They actually do a very thorough screening, yaar. It is not just about physical fitness; they check your medical history and also do their own psychological tests like SSB. You can't really hide major medical history there.

Yes, the armed forces require full disclosure of medical history, including psychiatric treatments or counseling. Hiding records can lead to disqualification later. If you have any ongoing issues, consult a military medical counselor for the exact eligibility criteria.

I always overthink these things too, like what if some old clinic visit comes up. They do check records and run personality tests during selection. Try not to stress too much, just keep your documents clear and give your best.

I completely understand why you might be feeling anxious about this, it can be very stressful when you want to join. Yes, military medical boards screen for past mental health issues and treatment records. Don't let the anxiety build up, talk to an academy mentor for clear guidance.

My son prepared for NDA and they are very strict about health history, both physical and mental. They have their own medical boards that evaluate everything. Just encourage your child to be honest and confident during the interviews.

My uncle who was in the Navy told me they do very strict background checks and psychiatric evaluations. They need to ensure you can handle high stress. It is always best to be completely honest during the medical rounds.
