Does the liver secrete enzymes?

My recent blood test report showed some enzyme levels were a little off, and the doctor mentioned my liver. It made me wonder, does the liver actually secrete enzymes, or is it more about processing them? Trying to understand the basics.

Hey, the liver actually contains lots of enzymes inside its cells to process toxins, but it doesn't secrete them into the digestive tract. It mostly secretes bile. I learned this when my sister had some elevated liver enzymes in her blood report.

Wait, does elevated liver enzymes in blood test mean the liver is secreting them when it shouldn't? My doctor told me my SGOT and SGPT are slightly high and I am stressing out. Anyone else got similar results after a routine checkup?

Bhai, liver inside itself has many enzymes to clean our blood, but it doesn't send them out for digesting food. It only sends out green-yellow bile. Keep your eating clean and liver will stay strong, don't worry.

I totally get it, medical terms can be so confusing when you are trying to understand your reports. The liver has enzymes for detoxing, but it doesn't secrete them for digestion. Hope this helps ease your mind a bit.

I had fatty liver grade 2 last year, so I know this inside out. The liver enzymes should stay inside the liver; if they are leaking into your blood, it means liver cells are inflamed. Cut down on alcohol and sugar immediately, and get an ultrasound done.

The liver holds its own enzymes internally to filter out impurities. If the liver is weak, these leak into the blood. Drinking simple jeera water daily and avoiding greasy mutton dishes can ease the burden on your digestive system.

Don't stress too much about the biology, buddy! Basically, liver enzymes stay inside the liver to do chemical work, while it secretes bile for digestion. Unless your doctor pointed out something high in your blood test, you are perfectly fine.
