Does the flu cause abdominal pain?

I'm down with what feels like the flu, lots of body aches and weakness. But I'm also having some nagging abdominal pain, almost like a dull ache. Does the flu typically cause abdominal pain, or should I be worried about something else?

Actually yaar, the regular flu mostly affects your throat and nose, not your stomach. But sometimes, heavy coughing can make your abdominal muscles really sore, which feels like stomach pain. If it's actual severe cramps inside, then that's different.

It's quite rare for typical influenza to cause direct abdominal pain. If you've been coughing a lot, it might just be core muscle fatigue. If your doctor allows, some light stretching can help relieve the muscle tension.

No, influenza is a respiratory issue. If your abdomen feels tight, it may be due to stress or shallow breathing while you are sick. Try gentle diaphragm breathing while lying down to relax the belly area.

I had a bad bout of flu last month, and my stomach started hurting just from coughing so hard. It felt like I had done 100 crunches! Drinking warm water and resting helped soothe the soreness after a couple of days.

Usually, flu doesn't cause stomach ache, unless it's a stomach bug. If your tummy is feeling upset, try taking some light khichdi and hot ginger water. Avoid self-medicating with strong painkillers as they can irritate the stomach lining more.
