Does tea cause kidney stones?

I had kidney stones a few years ago, and I drink a lot of tea daily. Could my tea consumption be a reason for getting kidney stones?

I completely understand the anxiety you are going through, especially if you have had stone pain before. I was so scared of my morning tea after my diagnosis. But with time and talking to my doctor, I realized moderate tea is okay if you balance it with enough fluids.

I also heard that black tea has oxalates and now I get scared every time I drink my evening chai. Has anyone else here actually got stones because of tea, or is it just an online myth? I am seriously thinking of switching to warm water.

Look boss, simple rule: anything in excess will cause trouble. If you are drinking 6 cups of strong black tea daily and zero water, you are inviting stones. Keep it to 1-2 cups of normal milk tea and drink your 3 liters of water, simple as that.

Don't panic! Your daily cup of chai is not your enemy. Just make sure you are flushing your system with lots of water throughout the day. Keep smiling and enjoy your tea time! ☕✨

I track my daily water and food logs on HealthifyMe. Black tea does show up as moderate in oxalates, which can contribute to stones if your water intake is low. Just log your hydration levels and try to reach your target of 3 liters daily.
