Don't rely on random advice about antiviral drugs online. Tamiflu only works for the influenza virus; it won't reduce fever if you have dengue, typhoid, or a common bacterial throat infection. Please get a proper doctor's prescription first.
It helps reduce the fever duration by fighting the flu, but your body also needs solid fuel. When I was down, I paired my meds with light chicken broth and lots of water. Don't worry about missing workouts, just let the medicine do its job while you rest.
My family doctor explained that Tamiflu blocks the neuraminidase enzyme in the influenza virus, which stops it from spreading in your body. So yes, it reduces fever by treating the infection, but you still need paracetamol for instant relief from high temperatures.
While Tamiflu is prescribed for heavy flu, I always recommend supporting it with warm steam inhalation and honey-ginger water. But remember, if the fever is persistent and accompanied by breathing difficulty, don't rely on home tricks and see a doctor immediately.
My son was down with a 102 fever last winter and the doctor gave him Tamiflu because it was the seasonal flu. It took around two days for his temperature to normalize, but it definitely helped. Keep giving them light food and stay in touch with your pediatrician.
