Does taking tylenol prolong a fever?

My son has a mild fever, and I've given him Tylenol. My mother-in-law mentioned that sometimes it's better to let a fever run its course, as medicine might prolong it. Does taking Tylenol prolong a fever in children?

Hey there! No, taking Tylenol doesn't prolong a fever. It just helps to bring your temperature down and makes you feel much more comfortable so you can rest. Sleep well and get better soon! 😊

Nah bro, it doesn't. Whenever I get a fever, I take paracetamol (which is basically what Tylenol is) and it helps me function. It just manages the heat, the virus has to run its own course anyway.

In our days, we used to apply damp cloth on the forehead to lower the heat naturally. Taking a fever reducer like Tylenol is fine and won't prolong the sickness, but do not take too many pills without consulting your family doctor.

From what I know, it doesn't prolong the fever, it just helps you manage the body pain. Since my body is already sensitive to hormonal changes, I always check with my doctor before taking any tablets, just to be on the safe side.

I totally get it, dealing with a stubborn fever can make you question everything you are taking. But don't worry, Tylenol is just meant to give you relief from the high heat and body aches. It won't make the sickness last longer.

There is no scientific basis to say Tylenol prolongs a fever. It is a standard medication to reduce high temperatures safely. Just stick to the recommended dosage and consult your physician if it doesn't go away.

Taking generic paracetamol is very cheap and does the same job as imported Tylenol. It won't prolong your fever, but if the temperature doesn't go down in 3 days, spend that money on a basic CBC test and see a local doctor.

I don't have time to stay sick, so I take paracetamol to manage the fever and keep working. It doesn't prolong the illness, but remember it only masks the symptoms. If the fever stays for more than 3 days, see a doctor.

I've tried cold compresses and herbal teas, but sometimes you just need a Tylenol to bring a high fever down so you can sleep. It doesn't prolong the illness, it just helps you rest. Use home remedies for comfort, but take the medicine when needed.

My mother always tells me to drink warm pepper rasam and rest when I take paracetamol for fever. The medicine doesn't make the fever last longer, but it is always good to support your recovery with simple, warm home food as your doctor advises.

I was reading some articles about this recently. Some studies suggest a fever is the body's natural way of fighting viruses, but taking Tylenol doesn't actually prolong the illness in any clinically significant way. It is mostly safe for temporary relief.

It doesn't prolong the fever, but since I have thyroid issues, I am always cautious about any persistent infection. If your fever keeps coming back, please don't just rely on Tylenol; get proper blood tests done and follow up with your doctor.
